Edit:
If Starcraft is like a piece of music that is super long and complex, why would you try to play the whole thing before you can play the easy bits?
Learning an all-in is very valuable. My friend was stuck in high Diamond and stalled for quite a while. I told him to try four-gating every single game he played. He did it and realized that beyond just being a "cheesy build", it taught him absolute intricacies in timing, supply blocks, spending the second your gates idle, etc. It showed him how much of a difference basic micro makes, but also that if you spend too much time microing and miss half a production cycle, you've lost anyway.
It made him a much better player, because things are much easier to understand on a smaller scale, but still can be applied to macro games if you want.
